Review Summary


Apollo 15 and 16 Soil Mechanics

Reviewers - Paul Lowman (not present), Jeff Plescia (not present)

Note - This was not a formal review, we are evaluating whether this data
set can become a PDS data set.  We are asking Paul and Jeff to look over
these suggested improvements and let us know of these data should become
a PDS data set.


Rename the Soil Mechanics Data Set to include "Lunar Self-Recording
Penetrometer" or "Lunar Penetrometer"

Need to add more documentation for each penetration site:  photograph of
site, traverse maps showing locations of sites, coordinates,
distance/direction from LM, etc.

Jeff Plescia has made digital tables from the scanned tables.  He will
send these to us and we will add them into the data set after comparing
them with the scans.

List the original data types/media used and how it was converted

Consider making the images into PDF format.

Include copy of the relevant Apollo Preliminary Science Report in the
Documentation file or elsewhere.

Make sure papers in reference section are referred to in write-ups.

Add in transcripts of lunar surface to ground communications for each
run as documentation.

Create set of browse images, possibly in web format or a PDF file of
smaller images.
